ZYLA Elevates Motion Expression with The Moving Posters Visualisation Showcase

To celebrate our 5th anniversary, Zyla held its first design exhibition.

Guided by our founding philosophy of “transcending boundaries,” we aimed to create a design exhibition that surpasses the conventional divides of “graphics and video,” “Japan and the world,” and “others and oneself.”

In “The Moving Posters,” we were able to showcase the collective potential of our team, moving beyond individual contributions. The exhibition, which attracted a total of 4,083 visitors, presented a unique worldview by integrating graphic design, motion design, and CGI.

The Moving Key Arts

Drawing on our extensive experience in creating key visuals for advertisements in our daily client work, Zyla has developed a series of moving key art pieces. This transformation involves a comprehensive process that includes model shoot direction and 3D CGI compositing. Unlike traditional videos with cuts and scene transitions, these works aim to explore the intersection of graphic and video expression, creating a unique and seamless visual experience.

“The Queen” is illustrated as a symbol of strength and protection, dedicated to safeguarding what is precious. Even when her time comes to perish, her legacy lives on, inherited as new sprouts, thriving for all eternally.

Undefeatable
Even in the most desperate circumstances, people can start over again. No matter how hopeless the situation, the sky remains vast as blue as ever. This piece captures the human spirit under this dystopian environment in the well-known Shibuya area in Tokyo. The greenery, the water, and the birds flying in the blue sky represent hope in the present era.
Accepting all the events and the past we wish to forget, without erasing the pain. Not yielding, but rising again is the most beautiful aspect of us humans.

Shabu-ShuabU
The world is a captivating “mixture” of diversity. When we try to embrace the world, we actually find out what our real individuality is. This piece showcases a female figure enjoying shabu-shabu with a colourful outfit amidst a surreal icy landscape. Here, the boundary between reality and fantasy blurs, highlighted by the contrasts between cold and warmth, culture and nature. It’s the beauty of these contrasts that fosters a harmonious coexistence in our world.

“I Was a Hero” inspired by Japanese legendary heroes, the key arts are represented by a male and a female figure. We aimed to illustrate past heroes figures in Japanese culture and to bring them to life through a modern lens. By using the power of 3D CGI and body makeup, the pieces attempt to emphasise the strong hero spirit despite their broken parts.

Parfait Body
This piece emerges from a nostalgic memory of a capture wobbly motion of pudding on a smartphone. There is something addictive about its tempting and comical movements, and we wanted to accentuate it by exaggerating its magnetic allure.

In “Dango Is Mochi,” we try to capture the interesting texture and movements of “mochi” through the form of “dango.” “Mochi” is the Japanese rice cake, and “dango” is a type of Japanese dessert that has three or four mochi balls and is served on a skewer. This work used a special angle where you have to look up to the dango, and see the rice balls fall from the top with unexpected colors but also keeping “three” dango all the time. In the background, we use typography and the color of dango (white, pink, green) to have a unique and modern approach of shape, line, and form.
