Yunka, a haven of Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) cuisine and bar nestled in the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, embarked on a captivating journey to craft an identity that seamlessly blends tradition with a touch of contemporary flair. The process was deeply rooted in honoring cultural heritage while embracing modernity, resulting in a brand identity that feels timeless yet fresh. Drawing profound inspiration from the intricate and symbolic art of Nazca illustrations, we meticulously designed a bespoke typeface that now stands as the cornerstone of our logo and icon. This typeface captures the essence of the ancient Nazca culture, providing a direct connection to the traditions that underpin our culinary roots.
Building upon this foundation, we expanded the visual language by creating exclusive animal representations and ornaments, carefully designed to echo the techniques and aesthetics of Nazca art. These unique elements bring life and character to the brand, serving as subtle yet powerful tributes to the rich history of South American artistry. To further deepen the connection, we infused the visual identity with a South American-inspired color palette, evoking feelings of warmth, vibrancy, and authenticity. The harmonious interplay of these colors enhances the overall brand experience, making it as inviting as the dishes served at Yunka.
Through these thoughtful design choices, Yunka’s identity comes to life as more than just a logo—it’s a celebration of cultural fusion and artistry. It welcomes guests into an immersive world where Japanese-Peruvian flavors and South American-inspired aesthetics create a dining experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.
