Background
Yoni Pleasure Palace exemplifies an honest and natural approach to mindful self-pleasure and embodied exploration with their beautiful, intricate, and delicate glass and crystal pleasure wands, yoni eggs and pleasure products.
The founder, Rosie Rees is a sexuality coach, body image activist and nude yoga teacher. She established Yoni Pleasure Palace in 2014 and has garnered a loyal following through her workshops and social media. She is passionate about educating women on pelvic floor health using Yoni eggs and inspiring a mindful, slowed-down approach to life using their bespoke products, while healing sexual blocks and learning to embrace their naked body.
As the Yoni brand grew, the packaging for her custom designed products required branded packaging befitting the ethos of the brand.
Brief
Provide a branded packaging solution which conveyed Rosie’s core values of providing beautifully crafted products which empower and heal the user. A modern, seriously sensual unboxing experience and a safe keeping box for the delicate glass wands and dildos, which can be shipped without damaging to them.
Strategy
We instantly fell in love with the natural energy Rosie exudes and understood instantly that her goals were inspired and driven to help and be a positive force in sexual wellness, intimacy, and self-love.
Each glass dildo and wand she had designed expressed something unique. Looking and feeling like glass art pieces, we knew how important it was to treat them with respect and showcase the beautiful qualities of each product.
We knew the brand’s essence – encapsulated and defined by a mandala, symbolised the interconnectedness of physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of self-pleasure, and how the intimacy of self-love, was key to the design, so our strategy began by playing with the photography, the light and shadow to capture the colour, clarity and beauty of each piece – expressing the passion behind their very creation.
Design Process
Initially the inspiration for the packaging design was drawn from the skin, our body’s largest organ, and the sensory experiences it facilitates. This further positioning Yoni Pleasure Palace as comfortable as the skin one lives in, fostering connection across all body types.
We crafted a base packaging solution to safeguard the products during shipping and storage – a hard backed box with a magnetic closure, the solution also providing a delightful unboxing experience and keepsake.
The front of the packaging highlights the exquisite quality and design of Yoni’s glass pleasure wands revealed through the photography emphasizing the superior craftsmanship and the artistic merit inherent in each piece. The photographs invite users to appreciate these pleasure wands not just as intimate products, but as unique works of art.
Refinements to enhance the Yoni logo and drawing inspiration from the opulence, sophistication and timelessness of art deco design, the clean lines, symmetry, and luxurious detailing are subtly woven into the overall packaging design through rose gold foil embellishments.
The linear Yoni pattern featured on the side panels, while explicit in nature, are a unique detail demonstrating the individuality and self-acceptance of the female Yoni.
The harmoniously balanced, modern design features rose gold foil to portray the premium quality of the products with a soft, neutral colour palette to create a feminine, sophisticated feel and touch while the design serves as the visual cornerstone which is easily adaptable to both online platforms and retail environments.
Results and demonstrate the value and impact of the project
New Yoni packaging was created as a limited print run in the first instance and based on the initial sales results they have re-ordered in larger volumes and have additional products including The Bloom (a glass butt plug), The Suki and The Flick (clit suction and flicking toys) released in the new packaging ready for the Christmas sales.
