Linn’s new 360 Loudspeaker features 3 new finishes – titled the Glasgow Collection. These finishes each feature different colours and coatings, and are inspired by Glasgow’s heritage. Linn needed a suite of simple product images, as well as more creative shots that would help to tell the story of each finish, including two more neutral finishes for the speaker. They also briefed a key visual for the full range of finishes of the product, as well as an animation showcasing the full range.
These luxury speakers needed to communicate their story in an intelligent, subtle way to Linn’s discerning customers. The clean, crisp design needed to be mirrored by its surroundings, alluding to the story that accompanied each of the finishes and standing out in the premium home tech space. To do this, Where Giants Roam built each speaker’s environment around subtle cues relating to their story – the matte blue Clyde Built was situated in a styled, urban warehouse with a nod to Glasgow’s iconic Finnieston Crane, referencing the industrial power of the city where Linn is based. The burnt orange Single Malt is easy to connect with Scotland’s whisky heritage, but to keep this scene premium and non-cliché’d, Where Giants Roam took inspiration from the construction of whisky barrels to produce a contemporary slatted wall backdrop for the speaker, reinforcing the golden orange tone of the speaker finish. For the Linn Heritage finish, a deep navy blue linking to their core brand colour, Where Giants Roam drew on the inspiration of the Clyde river that runs through Glasgow, bringing in glass screens that evoke a sense of water movement creating a sleek, luxury setting for the speaker.
Finally, for the family image, the team needed to showcase all of the finishes without creating any clashes with colour, so they kept the scene neutral in tone. With carefully directed lighting, Where Giants Roam were able to showcase the speaker details and a photorealistic presentation of each speaker’s interaction with light. To add further intrigue to this shot, they created a set that drew on the Gaelic meaning of Linn – waterfall. Playing on the connection between sound waves and water, Where Giants Roam created a family environment that features undulating layers within which all five speakers were positioned, giving space to each finish whilst ensuring all 5 are presented harmoniously.
The team at Linn were so pleased with the quality and concept of the imagery that they increased the scope to include an animation of each Glasgow Collection finish. Concentrating on subtle lighting movements, considered camera angles, and gently animated background elements, Where Giants Roam brought each bespoke finish setting to life and complementing the product design without distracting from it.
Linn launched at a trade conference with the new speaker and accompanying visuals being a massive success. The Linn team noted that the “goal for this flagship speaker project was to take it to the next level and create the most successful product launch in Linn’s history – and Where Giants Roam were integral in helping us achieve this. Not only did they create visually stunning assets that went above and beyond our expectations, but the level of communication was second to none. From concept to completion our account manager was always on hand to update on progress, and the ability to jump on a call directly with the designers working on the animation made all the difference to the final output.” Rebecca McClintick, Creative & Design Direction, Linn Products.
