Block – The New Construction

How can a new company have an impact on a traditional and small market such as construction in Portugal?
This was the challenge that launched the development of the logo and visual identity of the Block brand by our design team.

Block is a company that builds and renovates houses and installs rainwater harvesting and management systems for domestic and industrial use.
We were drawn in by the simplicity of the name and the easy and intuitive way in which it suggests the company’s core business.
For the logo we chose a thick, uppercase typography that proclaims the ideas of stiffness and strength, usually related with construction, in addition to the impactful effect intended by a brand that is now entering a small, traditional market.

Block is uncomplex, objective and modern, attributes that we wanted to communicate through simple shapes but adorned with some cuts that make them unique, highlighting the B, inspired by concrete blocks, one of the basic elements of construction that gives name to the brand.
For the primary typeface, we chose a sans-serif, neutral one to balance the set with elegance and simplicity, also in uppercase, in order to keep the brand’s stiffness and strength.

The choice of vibrant colors emphasizes the intended impact, while making the company’s business obvious: orange for construction and blue for rainwater harvesting and management systems.
All these premises also inspired our photography team for the brand applications photoshoot.
