Sand Creative – Rabastas Armagnac
Armagnac is France’s oldest spirit with a 700 year old history. Despite this it still sits in the shadows of its more widely known cousin, Cognac.
The cocktail sector is still growing in many parts of Europe and our younger target consumer is also open to discovering new spirits.
Our challenge was to introduce this lesser known spirit to a new younger consumer – primarily in the bar and cocktail sector through bold and distinctive packaging.
Distilled and bottled in Gascony, the Rabastas Armagnac branding is inspired by one of the region’s most famous legends, the musketeer D’Artagnan and his fellow adventurer – Rabastas the horse.
The duo were chosen for their adventurous spirit with their interlocking profiles within the branding symbolising the perfect mix.
The simple, bold, distinctive and memorable design achieves great standout in a highly competive and busy environment – it’s contrasting monotone style playing an important role. There are 2 variants – Blanche – a versatile clear spirit perfect for mixing due to its clarity and a 6 year old darker spirit.
Design detail includes typography that originates from the 16th century France. The angular cut and sliced logo was inspired by sword skills of D’artagnan. The design is printed onto premium Tinteretto uncoated paper with a high build gloss varnish on the logo and the strip at the base of the label. All materials are recyclable.
L’Esprit Mousquetaire – ‘The Musketeer spirit’ was created as a brand slogan.
