The Granaína Limpia Typeface Created by Sergio Arredondo and Vanesa Hater

In 2013 was the 1,000th anniversary of the creation of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada, and for this reason, the Pago de Almaraes winery from Granada, celebrated tthis moment with the launch of a new range of products, called “A Thousand Years and One Kingdom”. Pago de Almaraes is a winery which is equipped with the latest technology, with the objective of respecting the environment in all the activities that are carried out.

As any other kingdom, the Nasrid of Granada had its own shield, which can be found in the Alhambra and also in a rosette of the winery. The slogan ‘Only God is the Winner’, said by founder of the Nasrid dynasty and Sultan of Arjona, Alhamar, after winning the battle of Navas de Tolosa in 1212, crowned the center of the shield. It is surrounded by flowers that represent the vision of the Celestial Garden spoken of by Muhammad, a pattern that is present in most architectural Arab buildings.

For the new range of products, the pattern of the shield was taken, leaving the flowers, changing the slogan for “A Thousand Years and One Kingdom” and crowning the composition with the brand’s logo and typography “Granaina”, which is placed above. This way, the past is evoked while giving a modern style to the imagewhich is able to take us to the present and travel through 1,000 years of history of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada.

The Granaína Limpia typeface was created by Sergio Arredondo and Vanesa Hatero, from the ceramics of the Albaicín de Granada. La Granaína captures the essence of Granada, its people and customs while still being a very well finished font.
