Library brought the relaxed, nostalgic holiday atmosphere of the cornish riviera to the helford river distillery’s award-winning, exclusive, small-batch gin. By re-designing and elevating both their branding and packaging, library helped monterey tell their story.
The story of monterey:
Distilled on the banks of the helford river, in the shade of the local monterey pines, monterey tasked us with bringing their provenance, flavour and unique quality to every bottle. Nudging the gin market in a new direction, our design takes cues from the classic mediterranean aperitif world, evoking the same laid-back, travel and luxury of the cornish coast with a subtle nod to the decadent art deco era, where the gin cocktail originated.
Materials & sustainability
Our design uses a canvas of raw materials to communicate a new sense of quality through consideration. From the use of a 100% recycled glass bottle to the natural cork and gold metallic watch strap closure, the bottle itself tells a story of river-combing and sustainability, while also borrowing from the celebratory champagne ritual.
The world of monterey
The brand world flourishes into the full colour of botanicals and landscapes, building on travel nostalgia through vintage railway poster-inspired illustration and serene photography on the water. By contrasting the elegance of the bottle with bright botanicals, we were able to create an engaging and playful set of assets that allow the brand to move seamlessly between day and nightlife.
