At the heart of the Barzini packaging design lies the mission to capture the brand’s fun, vibrant essence while evoking a sense of nostalgic sophistication. Barzini, a spirited blend of gin, aranciata, and limonada, is crafted for lively occasions—poolside gatherings, bustling cafes, and street food experiences. The brief called for a design that reflected the playful and social nature of the product while channeling the charm of vintage Italian beverages. Targeting young, outgoing consumers, the challenge was to balance modern appeal with nostalgia, ensuring relevance in a saturated canned beverage market.
We began by researching mid-century Italian soda branding, drawing inspiration from the elegant yet approachable illustration styles of the 1950s and 1960s. These visuals, characterized by hand-drawn elements and vibrant colors, were reimagined with a contemporary twist to create a timeless yet fresh identity. Central to the design are two charismatic characters embodying the Barzini lifestyle, depicted as stylish and carefree, enjoying the drink with flair. To add depth and playfulness, elements of the beverage—such as oranges and limes—are incorporated into their attire, reinforcing the connection to the ingredients.
The logo features modern typography with subtle vintage nuances, tying the entire design together. The color palette of an unusual scheme of green and blue contrasts beautifully with the illustrations, enhancing shelf appeal and reflecting the product’s refreshing and vibrant nature. The layout balances artistic charm with clear communication, ensuring the design is engaging and dynamic while standing out in a competitive market.
The final packaging captures the essence of Barzini: fun, social, and timeless. Nostalgic inspiration, combined with modern execution, creates an emotional connection that elevates the product’s appeal. The characters add a memorable, human element, making Barzini instantly recognizable. The vibrant design has received enthusiastic feedback from the client and consumers, effectively communicating the product’s personality and ensuring its strong presence in the ready-to-drink market.
