Student Rebranding Concept for the Museu del Perfum in Barcelona

The Perfume Museum of Barcelona, officially known in Catalan as Museu del Perfum, was founded in 1961 in order to exhibit an evolution of perfume vessels throughout the ages. The museum presents a wide collection of nearly 5,000 essence and perfume vessels from different cultures and civilizations. The collection covers long historical periods ranging from Egyptian vases and Greek pottery to current days

Since the personality of the brand can be described as inquisitive, original, appreciating the beauty and the magnificence of art, the main creative concept that I chose to stand behind my visual identity — the idea of perfume glass refractions. Simple, but clear and aesthetically consistent with the elegance of the exhibition itself. Such distortions represent the complexity of the delicate art of working with glass and carry the idea that we look at the world through beautiful and unique glass refractions. This branding identity uses 5 different types of distortion that are inspired by real life vessel examples. Such distorting effects can be applied both on photos and texts. The distortion, smoothness and texture values of the distortions may vary. The main goal — keep the image recognizable, the text readable & the idea simple

In order to make the chosen distortion technique look more expressive and holistic, there are no specific colors in the branding identity, with the exception of white and black. Similarly to the colors, the chosen typeface is also simple and minimalistic. Therefore, the viewer focuses exclusively on the exhibits themselves, bright, eye-catching pictures that are associated with famous smells, and unique glass refractions
