Student Project Concept Identity for the Abramtsevo Museum by Valeria Sokolova

Student Project Concept Identity for the Abramtsevo Museum by Valeria Sokolova

The Abramtsevo Estate is a state-owned historical and artistic museum. It is a unique combination of a park reserve, a historic residential complex. Located outside the city, in a breathtakingly scenic setting next to a forest and a river. Abramtsev provides a picturesque and peaceful atmosphere that inspires creativity.

This was an amazing place that has inspired the Russian intelligentsia in the 19th century. Mikhail Vrubel created his ceramic works in a local studio, and today the museum houses the largest collection of his works. Valentin Serov painted his famous painting “Girl with Peaches” here. Viktor Vasnetsov found inspiration for his painting “Alyonushka” in the local landscapes.

It was here that the neo-Russian style was born. This style deconstructs the Russian folk style into something new and unusual.

It has been decided to transform this beautiful place into a center for artistic pilgrimage. People who are passionate about art are welcome to visit this museum to find strength, relaxation, and inspiration for their new projects.

The basis of the museum’s identity is its frame, which gives it a sacred character. The frame apparently protects the works of art or graphic images displayed in it. The frames are made of elements that can be found in the museum itself or its exhibits.

The floral motifs pay homage to the local woodcarving style, “Abramtsevo-Kudrin carvings”, which can also be found on the estate.

The unconventional arrangement of the text corresponds to the unconventional thinking of the artists who came here in the 19th century. They wanted to create something different from what had come before them. They wanted to express their vision of the world through their art.
