Student Packaging Design Concept for Amma Priya Cheddar Cheese Slice

Amma Priya’s cheddar slice brand was a way to bring storytelling into the world of artisanal cheese, a symbol of dedication and craftsmanship, this fictional tale serves as a vehicle to connect the product to tradition. “Amma Priya’s cheddar slice” has been practiced since 1985 – preserving and sharing the traditional cheese making techniques-even though cheese making is new to the region. In 2023 the brand underwent a transformation, embracing a more luxurious identity while staying true to its heritage and the values of care, tradition, and perfection that have defined it for nearly 40 years.

This storytelling fictional tale connects the product to tradition, evoking a sense of heritage in each of its slices. Blending this imaginative story with modern luxury ” Amma Priya Cheddar Slice” serves as a product and a rich narrative-driven experience driven by artisanal values. The Illustration showcases the mascot and the cheese making process, along with the background illustration of Coorg, Karnataka. I chose the Kolum design ( a rangoli tradition in South India) and Celtic pattern, common yet elegant for the side patterns. Laviossa Medium was used as the typeface, however, the brand needed to be recognized from a distance hence a little bit of adjustment was made to make it clearer from far away.

Product Shape: I chose an Elegant Square Box with slightly round edges. The Visual appeal is classic and sophisticated, easy to stack, and perfect for displaying the logo. The opening is like a jewelry case, enhancing the premium experience.

The Tale of Amma Priya and the Perfect Cheddar Slice

In a vibrant village nestled among the lush fields of Karnataka, there lived a wise and hardworking woman named Amma Priya. Known for her kindness and culinary skills, Amma Priya was the heart of her community. She had a special talent for making cheddar cheese, a tradition passed down through generations. She spent her days in the fields, ensuring her cows were well-fed and content, and her nights in the dairy, refining her cheese-making process. Amma Priya believed that if she could create cheese with all her heart, Annapurna (Goddess of nourishment) would guide her hands.

One night, after months of dedication, Amma Priya dreamt of the goddess herself. Annapurna smiled at her and whispered the secret: “The perfect slice is not just in the cheese or the knife; it is in the love and care you put into your work.” When Amma Priya awoke, she felt a sense of calm and purpose. She approached her dairy with renewed energy, and as she sliced her cheddar, she noticed something miraculous. Each slice was perfect—neither too thick nor too thin, with a smooth, even texture that melted in the mouth. The villagers marveled at the transformation, and Amma Priya’s cheddar cheese slices became famous throughout the region.

People traveled from far and wide to taste her cheese, and every slice was a reminder of the love, devotion, and respect she had for her craft. Amma Priya’s story spread, and soon her village became known as the home of the perfect cheddar slice. Every year, on the festival of Annapurna, villagers gather to celebrate Amma Priya’s legacy, honoring her dedication and the divine blessing that led to the creation of the most cherished cheddar in the land.

To this day, each package of Amma Priya’s cheddar carries the story of her journey, a tribute to the power of love and devotion in creating something truly special.
