Rebranding one of Europe’s most innovative companies
As one of the three finalists in the 2019 European Inventor Awards, Oslo-based Stingray Marine Solutions has already proven the value of its innovative aquaculture technology. The rebranding of the company aims to communicate the unique benefits of its high-precision laser technology to the international aquaculture industry.
Stingray develops intelligent aquaculture technology that combines stereo machine vision, advanced software, and high-precision laser to target and eliminate parasites that infect farmed fish. The company’s goal is to help global fish farmers to increase production and improve harvesting while ensuring that they remain focused on fish welfare.
Stingray has already received global recognition for its innovative patented technology and was a finalist in the European Inventor Awards in 2019. Stingray has received extensive international media attention and has among others been portrayed in the Daily Planet.
“We’ve followed Kind for several years and have seen how they are capable of delivering excellence in branding every time across many sectors. We strongly believe that our innovative technology can change fish farming for the better. And we’re convinced that partnering with Kind to communicate how we support sustainable fish farming will help us to change the minds of consumers all over the world.” John A. Breivik, CEO, Stingray
Laser focus on fish welfare
With its intelligent system for the elimination of sea lice, Stingray is a world-class provider of technology to the fish farming industry. Its patented solution not only provides an enhanced image-based overview of parasite infection but also allows for the optical delousing of salmon and trout using a laser to deliver a reduction in sea lice of over 50%.
In addition, the Stingray system records and reports a range of welfare indicators for farmed fish thereby providing an additional and important decision-making support tool for fish farmers. Furthermore, with Stingray’s biometrics application, fish farmers can also monitor growth in each pen in real time via Stingray’s online portal.
A Biomimetic Brand
As the name Stingray reveals, the technology is all about flexibility, and deadly precision. Our aim for the rebrand was to bio-mimic the animal’s traits in movement, action, and narrative. By studying the stingray’s agility and precision, we developed a moving brand, with vigilance beyond compare. Precision and attention to detail, every step of the way. Laser focus on technology, laser focus on sustainability, laser focus on safety, and laser focus on fish welfare.
The iconic stingray is simplistically static and designed to bio-mimic the precise predator. A study of the stingray’s movements is simplified and transferred to digital and physical three-dimensional installations. On analogue surfaces, it is graphically stylized, always with its tail precisely laser-focused on the target.
A passion for compassion
Our laser focus on compassion underpins a business mission to support smarter, healthier fish farming. We care deeply about fish welfare and food safety. We take clear responsibility for the choices we make as individuals and as consumers. And we always hold ourselves accountable for the actions we take as a business.
A strategy for sustainability
A laser focus on sustainability ensures we not only address the small things but also get the bigger picture. Parasites are tiny, but they create big problems. How we choose to control them impacts not only fish welfare but also the environment. Our aim is to protect both the fish and the future. A precise focus for big rewards.
Precision is an instrument of compassion.
When there’s no room for uncertainty.
Be precise.
To communicate Stingrays cutting edge technology and solution for a more sustainable fish we developed a film aimed at their target audience: the global fish farming industry. Stingrays solution eliminated lice in an efficient way, creating a more sustainable fish farming.
A vision based on precision
Some challenges leave you in the dark.
Making the solution hard to see.
