With over 75 years of legacy in powering physics labs, UNILAB® is a name trusted for its durable, reliable equipment. However, while the products remained strong, the brand had become dated and lacked the emotional feeling needed to resonate with a modern audience. With a new generation of products in development we were tasked with revitalising the brand. We embarked on a journey to reimagine UNILAB® for the future, without losing sight of its heritage.
Through our research and brand auditing, we discovered deep affection for UNILAB®’s products among lab professionals. However, the brand’s visual identity, tone, and storytelling no longer reflected its credibility or innovative spirit. Drawing inspiration from timeless, heritage brands like Lego, Roberts Radios, and Land Rover, we crafted a strategic direction that honoured UNILAB®’s legacy while positioning it as forward-thinking and relevant.
At the heart of the rebrand is a new brand platform: Powering Possible. This idea encapsulates UNILAB®’s role in enabling scientific discovery and education – past, present, and future. We updated the visual identity to reflect this vision, retaining key brand assets such as the iconic orange and black palette and nod to the original wordmark, while simplifying and modernising the overall look.
The result is a confident, compelling brand evolution, one that tells a richer story, connects with the next generation of educators and scientists, and stays true to what made UNILAB® iconic in the first place.
