Sizzling Success: Carlos Catalá’s Sauce Line Gets a Packaging Design Graphic Makeover by Glowe

We collaborated closely with Carlos Catalá from Carnicería Catalá, a renowned butcher in Spain, to craft his exclusive line of sauces tailored for hamburgers and starters. At Glowe, our task was to not only invent captivating names for each sauce but also to devise a cohesive graphic system to serve as the visual identity for the packaging across the entire sauce family.

Each sauce was given a name that was not only memorable but also reflected its primary ingredient or original inspiration, all while bearing the distinctive mark of Carlos Catalá’s expertise. The journey commenced with “PISTACHA,” a tantalizing pistachio-based sauce perfect for enhancing burgers. Following its enthusiastic reception, we expanded the range to include three more delectable offerings: “CHEDDAM” (a smoky cheddar cheese sauce), “EMMYLIS” (a fresh take on the beloved Emmy sauce), and we concluded with “MAYOXX” (a zesty Japanese mayo with a kick).

In crafting the packaging design, our aim was to evoke a sense of freshness, youthfulness, dynamism, and a touch of brutalist aesthetics. We envisioned the sauce names and typography as the focal points of the labels, ensuring instant recognition on the shelves. Vibrant colors, mirroring the actual hues of the sauces, were chosen to facilitate easy flavor identification and foster a connection with consumers. Simultaneously, we maintained a design ethos that exuded quality and emphasized the meticulous attention to product integrity, a principle deeply ingrained in all of Carlos Catalá’s endeavours.

This project not only birthed a successful line of sauces but also laid the foundation for a robust business venture under the Carlos Catalá brand. With a design language that is powerful, distinctive, and effortlessly recognisable, we’ve set the stage for future products to seamlessly integrate into the esteemed legacy of Carlos Catalá.
