Bettear is an assistive listening startup that helps people with hearing difficulties immerse themselves in the live experience – whether that’s social events, concerts, university lectures, museum tours, or any other environment that involves a collective experience of sound. The technology is potentially life-changing for people with hearing difficulties, who can feel excluded from live events and social settings, or left with an inferior experience.
Side Street’s strategy was to shift the focus of the company’s impact towards empowering people with hearing difficulties to live their lives to the fullest. We emphasized the people using the platform to enjoy art, music, entertainment and education without having to worry about interruptions or feeling left out. Adopting this human-first approach tells a more emotive story about Bettear, and makes a business case for its huge potential around the world.
We orchestrated photoshoots with the Bettear community, putting imagery of people with hearing aids and cochlear implants enjoying themselves at the heart of the company’s branding and messaging. The idea of effortless enjoyment is incorporated in new design elements inspired by the flow of sound waves.
