Task:
Minim Design was approached by household appliance brand Selva to create packaging for two new vacuum cleaner models. Our objective was clear: develop premium packaging that instantly communicates technological advantages, builds immediate consumer trust, and effectively highlights the product’s key selling points.
Research & Insights:
Competitor analysis revealed that many existing packages appeared uninspiring and failed to convey product quality effectively. Our research highlighted critical consumer insights:
85% of customers rely primarily on visual cues (color, clarity, and composition) when choosing appliances.
Icon-based communication significantly accelerates consumer comprehension compared to lengthy descriptions.
A premium visual presentation directly increases consumer confidence, leading to higher sales.
Creative Solution:
We developed two distinct yet cohesive packaging designs:
Purple Packaging: Evoking cleanliness, softness, and elegance, ideal for home-focused buyers.
Dark-Gray Packaging: Representing power, technology, and sophistication, designed to appeal to performance-oriented consumers.
Key design elements included:
Large, Clear Product Imagery: Immediately demonstrates product features and builds consumer confidence.
Simple and Informative Icons: Quickly communicating technical specifications (2000W power, HEPA H13 filtration at 99.9% efficiency, and 350W suction power), accompanied by clear multilingual descriptions.
Detailed Side Diagrams: Clearly illustrating vacuum components and structure, aiding rapid understanding and purchase decisions.
Premium Packaging Materials: Dense cardboard with matte lamination and selective gloss finishing, enhancing product protection and perceived quality.
Internally, product components are secured in a structured layout to ensure safety during transport, further reflecting brand professionalism and reliability.
Results:
From launch, Selva’s vacuum cleaners experienced strong initial sales, directly attributed to packaging clarity and premium design. Consumers quickly understood product advantages from the visual presentation alone, streamlining the purchasing process. Retail partners praised Selva’s packaging for its modern, sophisticated appearance, greatly facilitating product placement and boosting in-store prominence.
