The Cae Mor Hotel project was an exciting opportunity to refresh the branding of a landmark property located on Llandudno’s iconic seafront. Llandudno is one of the UK’s leading holiday destinations, attracting around 10 million tourists annually. Despite the competitive seafront market, the project was well-positioned for success, as many neighbouring hotels had not undergone modernisation in years. This allowed us to help the Cae Mor stand out as a unique and luxurious offering amidst its peers.
To gain a clear understanding of the hotel’s goals and vision, we utilised our bespoke brand questionnaire, a tool we provide to all clients. This questionnaire served as the foundation for developing a focused brief, particularly helpful for clients without a defined one. By exploring the Cae Mor’s preferences, objectives, and boundaries, we ensured that our designs aligned with their vision. The responses guided our creative direction and informed the development of several distinct early concepts. We value presenting clients with multiple diverse approaches, allowing them to explore a range of possibilities before refining their final choice.
Collaboration was key to the success of this project, and we worked closely with the Cae Mor’s interior designer to ensure the branding aligned with the hotel’s interiors. The 1890 architecture, featuring intricate coving and distinctive detailing, inspired many elements of the design. We incorporated these features into the branding with a vintage-style frame, blending historical elegance with clean, modern aesthetics. The result was a cohesive design that celebrated the hotel’s heritage while appealing to contemporary tastes.
At the heart of the identity is a bespoke key symbol, representing Llandudno as “The Gateway to the Land and Sea.” This unique motif reflects the duality of the area, known to seafarers as the Great Orme and cherished by visitors as a gateway to the Welsh coastline. The branding aimed to give the hotel a distinctive identity, elevating it as a luxury destination to attract both new and returning guests. Since the rebrand, the Cae Mor Hotel has seen a surge in bookings and glowing online reviews, with guests praising the property’s sophisticated aesthetic and luxurious feel.
As part of the rebranding process, we also took all photography for the hotel. These images captured the stunning seafront location, the intricate architectural details, and the beautifully curated interiors designed by the interior designer. This bespoke photography was used across the hotel’s website, social media channels, and online platforms, creating a unified and visually compelling narrative.
The purpose of this work was to position the Cae Mor Hotel as a standout luxury destination, filling a gap in Llandudno’s hospitality market. The rebranding successfully transformed the hotel’s identity, helping it attract a new audience while continuing to delight returning guests. The results have exceeded expectations, with the hotel receiving numerous positive reviews and a significant increase in bookings.
By aligning our designs with the client’s vision, collaborating closely with the interior designer, and grounding the identity in the hotel’s history and location, the rebrand not only fulfilled the brief but delivered measurable success. From the bespoke key motif to the custom photography, every element was designed to enhance the Cae Mor’s unique appeal and secure its position as a luxury destination in Llandudno.
