Scarpantoni Wines Rebrand by Byerlee Design

Scarpantoni Wines Rebrand by Byerlee Design

This special project signified not just a package refresh for the wine range, but it was the first look into the rebrand of Scarpantoni Wines. Allowing a new chapter of wine history to unfold for the locally renowned winery.

Established in 1958, the allotment contains 40 hectares of vines, producing 40,000 cases of multi-varietal wine per year. It was vital that the packaging needed to represent the success of a brand that has well and truly found its footing and excelled in the prestigious McLaren Vale region of South Australia.

To retain its clear brand recognition to the loyal, pre-existing client base, while attracting new wine enthusiasts, the project scope centred around implementing the infamous Scarpantoni emblem. The mythological goddess of agriculture, ‘Demeter’, along with a single grape vine encapsulated within an oval boarder has been a long-standing logo-mark for the winery. It was this highly iconic graphic connected to the brand that is the face of Scarpantoni Wines, making it paramount to remain at the forefront. However, the original illustration lacked clarity and strength at a distance, so it was reimagined by the mighty talented illustrator, Tatiana Trikoz.

A new typographic ‘roundel’ was introduced to adorn their new matte black capsules. Inscribed with their establishment date, it rightfully presents the winery as one of the oldest family-owned brands in the McLaren Vale region.

The overall execution of the label and package design received bold and premium cues with considered embellishments and uncoated textures to appropriately elevate and represent their esteemed wines. A balance of classic and contemporary was a key part of the initial brief and we believe these qualities were delivered.
