London-based design studio Run for the Hills was drafted in to create the branding and packaging for Kind Atoms, a new beauty brand born from a genuine desire to create skincare that is both effective and kind.
Disheartened by the lack of gentle yet effective options on the market, the founders turned to their South Asian heritage for inspiration — recalling the fragrant kitchens of their childhoods, where generations passed down the secrets of turmeric, saffron, amla, and honey as natural remedies.
By blending time-honoured beauty rituals with cutting-edge science, the founders of the company have created a product and a brand that respects tradition while embracing innovation. With backgrounds in chemistry and healthcare, their in-house scientists ensure that every product is scientifically backed, effective, and safe for even the most sensitive skin. The first product is The Atomic Moisturiser, a luxurious cream that leaving skin radiant, hydrated, and nourished.
Crafting Kinder Skincare
To bring Kind Atoms to life, the founders partnered with Run For The Hills to create a distinctive brand identity, packaging and visual direction for their launch collection. The Run for the Hills design team, led by co-founder Chris Trotman, designed a bespoke serif logotype and an elliptical atomic logomark, symbolising the seamless fusion of nature and science. A rich, sophisticated colour palette — mustard yellow, deep green, cream, and charcoal black — adds warmth and depth to the brand’s aesthetic.
Trotman says, “We designed the logo to be timeless and elegant. Intentionally to feel more premium that the product’s price point might suggest, offering skincare lovers a pleasantly unexpected touch of luxury.”
For the debut product, The Atomic Moisturiser, Run For The Hills designed a sleek, matte-green bottle with a unique twist mechanism, detailed with gold lettering for a refined, luxurious feel. It is housed in a matching green box, embossed with the atomic logo and finished with elegant gold typography — ensuring a premium unboxing experience. The moisturiser is luxuriously packaged — reassuringly so — yet priced fairly, ensuring accessibility to a broad audience.
Run For The Hills proceeded to art directed the photoshoot. Products were styled against curated coloured paper backdrops, complementing the brand’s earthy yet modern aesthetic. For authenticity, real women were used – friends of the founders, set against neutral backgrounds to enhance the brand’s effortless, understated elegance.
“For the product shoot, we wanted to fully embrace the brand’s deep connection to nature,” said Trotman. “We gathered props straight from our surroundings — wood stumps and bark foraged from our local park, and fresh olive branches clipped from a tree in our garden, bringing an organic, authentic feel to the imagery.”
To showcase the brand’s story and products, the designers built Kind Atoms’ Shopify website, integrating parallax layers of the photography with ample negative space to let it all breathe. The result is a visually immersive, minimalist, and engaging digital experience—designed to let the brand and its first product shine.
“Bringing Kind Atoms to life has been an incredible journey, and collaborating with the visionary team at Run For The Hills was a crucial part of that process. They instinctively understood our vision, translating it into a design language that feels both timeless and modern. Every element from the bespoke logotype to the rich, earthy colour palette reflects our ethos of fusing nature with science. The result is a brand identity that is as refined and thoughtful as the formulas themselves.” Jusna Ali and Roxanna Maani Co-founders of Kind Atoms.
