Reviving Tradition Through Design: Crafting a Unique Brand with Ancient Roots for Jianliang Buckwheat Liquor

Jianliang buckwheat liquor is an original and personalized product created by Jianli Liangjiu. It is also China’s first “buckwheat flavor” liquor product to obtain a national patent. It uses tartary buckwheat as the main ingredient and is brewed using the ancient Chu folk secret technique “lotus leaf mat pond and rice wine leaching fermentation method”. This process was discovered and improved by Jianli Grain and Wine Company and obtained a national invention patent. This product also makes this product the only liquor product in China that uses lotus leaves to assist fermentation. The use of lotus leaves in fermentation makes the wine taste noble and fragrant.

Jianli Grain and Wine Co., Ltd. is a characteristic enterprise in Jianli County, Jingzhou, Hubei Province, whose main business is the production of the local folk historical product “Jianli Grain and Wine”. The company owns “Jianli Grain and Wine”, “Jianli” and “Shuibian Town” and other three series of registered brand trademarks.

Jianli is located in the Jianghan Plain. It has been known as the “granary” since ancient times. It has more than enough grain every year. To this day, it is still the largest rice producing area in China. After the Battle of Chibi in the Three Kingdoms, the seven counties of Jingzhou were divided up by Liu Bei, Sun Quan, and Cao Cao. Later, Liu Bei borrowed Jingzhou Nanjun from Sun Quan. This is the “Liu Bei borrowed Jingzhou” in history. Jianli belongs to Nanjun and is Liu Bei’s back garden. All supplies of Liu Bei’s troops and horses come from this. At that time, the central area of Jianli was lined with shops and bustling fishing markets. The breweries in the town were also increasingly prosperous, and a unique process of fermentation using lotus leaves in a pond was formed. With abundant high-quality rice and the unique “lotus leaf pad pond” fermentation process, Jianli’s grain wine is famous in the three countries and has become a famous product.

The country is still there, and the sunset is red several times. Jianli Liangjiu has witnessed the triumph and loneliness of countless heroes. By the end of the Republic of China, Jianli grain and wine were still a common drink for famous families in the Central Plains and wealthy families in the south of the Yangtze River. But perhaps it is the fate of history. With the disintegration of the Republic of China and the rise of Sichuan wine and Guizhou wine, Jianli Liangjiu was gradually forgotten by the times. But if a pearl is left in the wild, its luster will become more true.
