The Munich-based beauty brand Plainly, founded by an entrepreneurial couple, took on a challenge of reinventing the niche of hand care – an often overlooked market that deserves more attention and innovation – with a simple yet elegant packaging, no compromise when it comes to ingredients and sustainability credentials.
The journey towards brand reinvention and disruption began 12 months ago, driven by a passion for perfection and a desire to set new standards of sophistication in luxurious hand care. Leveraging the expertise of the renowned Winkreative agency, headed by Tyler Brûlé, the brand set out to craft a timeless and iconic brand world that is elegant, modern, and simple, yet stands out with moments of impact and sophistication.
The founders have worked with the team at Winkreative to bring their vision to life with a design that reflects our commitment to luxurious natural ingredients and transparency. Inspired by the Munich heritage and a love of natural simplicity, every element of the packaging is imbued with meaning and carefully chosen to strip away excess, celebrate transparency, and act as a direct translation of our product and brand.
In a beauty industry where style often leads over substance – think excessively decorative design and confusing marketing lyricisms – this is packaging that strips away the excess, celebrates transparency and acts as a direct translation of product and brand. Only the essential is communicated, with subtle flourishes that reward inspection; descriptions are free from hyperbole and scents are represented by colour dots, while an inner pattern provides a moment of surprise and a triangle motif references the brand’s Bavarian roots.
