Posters for Fictional Optics Time To See
Surely, at least once in their lives, they wanted to be in their own past again, to experience certain sensations that left only vague memories, and finally clearly see the past event. Time to See is the optics of time, ensuring optical means to travel into the past. You can travel through the periods of your life, carefully consider the lost details and happy moments of life.
The theme of the project was chosen by me to comprehend the concept of time, to overcome my fears about the loss of valuable moments of the past, in order to try to immerse myself in the past without experiencing painful nostalgia. I think this theme is close to many people, because we often indulge in dreams about the past, but we need to remember that the past is only an integral part of our life that needs to be cautiously saves and treated with caution. The project Time to See is aimed at this.
In the process of creating posters, I experimented with typographic techniques, casual images, with various metaphors and symbols of time, such as the hands of the clock, recurring elements. I turned to the metaphor of seeing the past: chaotic pieces of photographs. I also used the image of glasses in the posters. So, I invented posters about the fear of time, about items from the past that are of great value for restoring memories, about immersion in the past, about how a person’s visual memory works. This project was carried out as a student project at the HSE School of Art and Design in 2021, curated by Natalia Burdenkova.
