A porter shaped by cold coasts and warm barrels. Baltic darkness meets the quiet sweetness of rum-soaked wood, creating a limited edition that feels both distant and familiar.

The Challenge
The identity needed to bridge two worlds: the stern, disciplined character of a Baltic porter and the soft tropical echo left inside barrels from Barbados. Browar Mikołajki — an independent family brewery set in the Masurian Lake District of northern Poland — asked for a label that could hold that tension without forcing a resolution. Nothing loud. Nothing decorative. Just a mood thick enough to stay with the drinker.

The Approach
The visual story leans into a maritime noir frame. A solitary captain, rain on his face, glass close to his lips as if listening to the sea. The atmosphere mirrors the journey of the beer itself: long nights, slow patience, and the quiet warmth pulled from rum-soaked wood. The label holds this tension without explaining it.
The typography draws from the hand-lettering tradition of Baltic port trade — dense, deliberate, built for permanence rather than trend. Copper foil on a dark navy ground reflects the near-black colour of the beer and the long months it spent aging in rum barrels from Barbados. The finishing is tactile: textured paper stock, foil that catches light only when the bottle moves. Nothing announces itself. Everything rewards attention.

The Result
A small numbered edition that feels aged rather than designed. Heavy, introspective, with a calm gravity that reflects both the Baltic and the tropics. The bottle stands like a fragment of a longer tale.
