Plumeria’s Home Boutque Branding by Candia Souranaki

Plumeria’s Home Boutque Branding by Candia Souranaki

Plumeria Hotel is a boutique hotel located in Paleochora, Chania. The owners assigned me the creation of the brand identity, leaving me a lot of freedom. So, to create their image after seeing some images of the hotel’s interior, instead of being inspired by the elements of decoration, or the shapes in the space, I was inspired by the general aura which exuded a very romantic and nostalgic feeling. Purple shades prevailed as well as low light and intense shadows. I tried to translate all this feeling into a corporate identity with a strong element of emotion. Therefore, the aim was to create an image that highlights the uniqueness of the decoration, to exude prestige and seriousness, but at the same time intimacy, nostalgia and romance. So I created the logo with the girl, which is surrounded by a circular shape which was a trademark of identity. This girl where holding the plumeria plant looks nostalgic, could think of many things or feel nostalgic about various situations. As an extension of the logo I used the plumeria plant she holds in her hand creating an illustration. This illustration was made by hand and has airbrush elements, creating a more intimate and handmade feeling. These three elements (the cylindrical shape, the girl and the plumeria) are repeated throughout the identity. As for the color palette, all colors came from the interior of the apartments. Shades of purple, light oil and beige. Purple as a color has been associated with melancholy, so its widespread use has more easily conveyed the theme of nostalgia. Regarding the typography, I used a very special font by Nikolas Type where it is characterized by many variations in thickness and shape, giving more emphasis, intensity and emotion. This was a very critical element in order to differentiate Plumeria Home Boutique’s identity from the other hotels in the area and the competition. Last but not least, in this particular project it was very important that the presentation reflected the qualities of the hotel and referred to the desired feeling. For this reason I used mockups that have little but targeted light and shadows.
