Pendo Rebrands a Local Community

Looking for a way to update their brand identity amidst a changing landscape and solidify its position as one of Vancouver’s most desired neighbourhoods, Cambie Village, a member of Vancouver’s Business Improvement Association (BIA) chose Vancouver-based creative agency Pendo.

The Cambie Village Business Association consists of more than 400 business and commercial property owners, located in the heart of one of Vancouver’s most central heritage boulevards in one of the city’s busiest corridors.

Rebranding an established community requires a lot of consideration, especially when that community is representative of a long and established history for businesses and residents. Walking through Vancouver’s Cambie Village, the aspects that make the area distinct come to light: Art Deco buildings and installations throughout the neighbourhood, featuring specialty retail shops and green spaces where the community is invited to live, work and play.

Following a period of interviews and insights gathered from local business owners, the strategy led to an eye catching treatment for Cambie Village that was informed by the community and vibrancy of the area, while paying homage to simple shapes, bold patterns and vivid colours inspired by the Art Deco period. The branding work can be seen throughout Cambie Village’s rotating street banners, event branding, ads, promotional materials and merchandise.
