Packaging Design that Will Clearly Show that Growing Plants is a Special Form of Meditation

Packaging Design that Will Clearly Show that Growing Plants is a Special Form of Meditation

Client
Seedline is a new brand of seeds for exotic houseplants. The company aims to change the perception of the relationship between plant and human during the cultivation process and to highlight the special bond between them.

Task
Our goal was to develop packaging design for 6 SKU: Monstera, Scindapsus, Dracaena, Aphelandra, Calathea, and Alocasia. The concept needed to reflect the product’s premium quality and the elegance of growing these unusual plant species.

Packaging
To make the entire consumer interaction with the product something special, we started by selecting the material for the seed box. We chose a designer-grade dense paper with a slightly rough texture. This choice conveys the naturalness of the process and the premium nature of the brand.

Solutions
The key word from the brief was “special” relationships between humans and plants. What exactly these relationships entail was unclear. Therefore, we decided to give them a more concrete characterization. They should certainly involve sophistication, tenderness, and attention to detail. These concepts formed the basis of the graphic image—a delicate sprout.

We created a unique sprout for each plant, each with a slightly different silhouette. This conveys the uniqueness of each species and imparts a sense of personal connection. The pastel color palette sets a gentle tone.

We developed a unique typeface for the entire line, which supports the theme of elegance and helps make the product more memorable.

Inside the box, the seeds are placed in a special envelope decorated with a pattern of sprouts in the same style. The overall design gives the product unity and completeness.

Such delicate and exotic plants require attention to detail, so an instruction leaflet with process descriptions is included. It is also made of designer paper, with infographics in the style of the sprouts.

The client wanted to change the perception of seeds, which we often simply place in the ground and then care for as they grow. Here, we needed to highlight the importance of the beginning of this process and imbue it with more emotional qualities. The pleasant tactile sensations of the paper, elegant fonts, and graphics—all were created to transform the growing experience into an intimate moment.
