Mitch and Jamie, the creative duo behind Mendi Moke, approached ONETOO looking to elevate their brand to reflect the bespoke nature of their service.
Through our discovery workshops, we uncovered a natural duality that underpins their business. Their past experiences and individual processes create a sense of tension, harmony and contrast in their creative work. In coming together as equals, they complement and challenge each other, creating new and unexpected outcomes for their clients. Integrating these themes into the design felt like a natural and honest representation of Mendi Moke and the unique value they provide.
Through exploration and experimentation, we selected a mixed-type visual motif, combining a structured sans serif with an elegant and refined serif, allowing the themes of duality and contrast to shine. The brand wordmark is a fitting representation, simple and clear, creating contrast between the two parts of the brand name while working in harmony to represent the brand as a whole.
The themes of duality run through the extended design system, playing with contrast through composition and creating tension through the use of opposites. Splitting the logo, sentences and supporting elements across the page, screen or poster allowed us to explore these brand concepts through visual motifs and systems.
With a cohesive colour palette, intentional use of negative space and unique and elegant typeface styling, the end product is a refined and elevated brand identity that communicates the specialty service and value Mendi Moke provide.
