Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, London – After 25 years of creative collaboration, Tátil Design and personal care group Natura launch the Ekos perfumery line Ryos, in a celebration of Amazonian culture, biodiversity and design innovation.
As Natura’s long-time creative partner, Tátil Design has played a vital role in shaping the identity of Ekos – celebrated for its sustainable approach and Amazonian ingredients. Now the duo has embarked on a new journey: to share the Amazon’s rich and nuanced narrative with the world through scent, story and design.
From origin to originality
What began with Tátil Design developing the original Ekos identity has evolved into a global branding of Ryos. The mission is to elevate the fragrance line across international markets, using creativity as a force for positive impact.
Tátil Design is a branding consultancy that accelerates growth by finding original ideas based on brand origins. Rooted in the essence of the Amazon, this new collection weaves together culture, ecology and emotion through three distinct creative pillars:
‘I am the river’ explores the organic shapes of the river, reflected in bottle designs that mimic waterways and natural curves.
‘I feel the river’ evokes sensual immersion, through visuals of glistening skin, shimmering water and textures reminiscent of nets and other fishing materials.
‘I celebrate the river’ infuses vibrant cultural imagery inspired by riverside communities and everyday Amazonian life.
The bottle is shaped like a river-carved stone, embodying the natural beauty of the region. The range’s name, Ryos, uses ‘Y’, the Tupi symbol for water, to replace the ‘i’ in ‘rios’ (rivers), blending with indigenous language.
The range
The collection invites the world to experience the soul of the Amazon through scent with three uniquely inspired fragrances:
Ryo Vivo captures the essence of the Jarana flower, which falls from riverside trees into the waters of the Amazon, embodying the vibrant life along the riverbanks.
Ryo Chuva evokes the fresh scent of Amazonian rain and the lush forests, bringing to life the invigorating aroma of the rainforest after a downpour.
Ryo Festa is a woody, aquatic fragrance inspired by the Siriuba tree, reflecting the lively spirit of the Amazon at night, as riverboats navigate its waters.
Design as social technology
Tátil Design collaborated with 17 Amazonian artists specialising in the famed ‘Abridores de Letra’ (interpreters of text) to embed authentic local artistry into the brand identity and packaging.
We identified distinctive elements of their craft and translated it into our work, seamlessly integrating them into the Ekos typography, enriching the overall visual language and packaging. The partnerships were built on collaboration, not appropriation, turning the creative process into what Tátil Design calls ‘social technology’ – design that empowers and gives back.
Creative immersion
Tátil Design’s team travelled deep into the forest, consulting locals and experiencing authentic culture.
This firsthand experience informed every aspect of the creative process, ensuring the final product aligned perfectly with Natura’s commitment to authenticity and sustainability. “The Amazon isn’t just the setting – it’s the protagonist,” said Julia Liberati, Creative Director at Tátil Design, who has family roots in the Amazon region. “We wanted to express the region’s soul through strategy and design. By completely immersing ourselves in the area, its people and its culture, we were able to create something that speaks with heart and intention.” The Ryos line is more than just perfume – it’s a multisensory experience, a cultural tribute and a blueprint for how brands can evolve with integrity. It’s also a showcase of Tátil Design’s unique strength – turning origin into originality.
