Naming and Visual Identity For Tusken By Caio Costa

About the brand
Tusken is an importer of high standard furniture that aims to connect Brazil to the best furniture designers in the world.

The brand borns from another brand with 4 physical stores and more than 13 years of experience in the Brazilian furniture market as an opportunity to reach a new public of high standard and increase the range of products.

Challenge
Although born from another brand already consolidated in the market, the brand architecture strategy was independent and therefore the new brand did not need to be correlated with the previous brand.

However, as a national brand with international reach, the project brought other challenges, among which two were the main ones:

Develop a name with ease of reproduction and understanding in multiple languages;
Develop a modern visual identity that reflects the quality of furniture imported by the brand.

Solution – Naming
Importers often not only connect continents and countries through their products but also function as true bridges, connecting their customers to unique solutions.

Exploring this concept came the term “Tusken”, which in West Frisian literally means “between”, a name option that reinforces the position of the brand to be the bridge between its customers and the best furniture solutions for their comfort and well-being.

Solution – Brand Design
To visually translate the brand’s objectives, an icon was developed that unites two congruent arrows in order to represent the import movement and, in the future, export promoted by the company.

In addition to forming the initial of the brand by visually joining the two arrows, the final format of the design was also inspired by the architecture of a bridge, which in turn seeks to represent the role that the brand plays in uniting countries and continents through the import of furniture.

The final result was an icon that united 3 distinct conceptual bases aligned to the name developed, the niche of the company and its purpose.
