Naming and Packaging Design for White Sea Seafood Products by BrandPa Agency

Naming and Packaging Design for White Sea Seafood Products by BrandPa Agency

Gifts of the White Sea: The task was to develop naming and packaging design for ready-to-eat seafood products in the middle segment. The White Sea is a name that speaks for itself in its niche. Author’s illustrations and laconic white design do not set off the product, but only complement it.

The White Sea has long been inhabited by Pomors – brave explorers, sailors and fishermen, who gave each shore its name. The Arkhangelsk region includes part of the Pomeranian coast, the Letniy, Zimniy, Mezen and Kaninskiy coasts. It was not without reason that the Pomors said: “The sea is our field.” On skillfully sewn sea boats – karbass – they went to the Kola Peninsula to catch cod, caught sea animals, and cooked salt. Pomeranian villages with huge huts and unique wooden churches grew along the banks. The route to Pomerania was well known to merchants from Europe, who brought goods to fairs in Kholmogory.

The deep rivers of the Arkhangelsk region flowing into the White Sea make it relatively unsalted and create a ring current counterclockwise. The depth of the sea is relatively small: from 340 meters in Kandalaksha Bay to 50-20 meters in Onega, Dvina and Mezen Bay. Mezen Bay has the highest tides – up to 7 meters! And on the Northern Dvina, a tidal wave penetrates upstream to a distance of more than 100 kilometers. At low tides in shallow waters, the water goes far from the shore, revealing a hard sandy bottom – a great place for romantic walks in good weather!

Fishing: There are a lot of fish here, and although the White Sea is not as heavily fished as the larger, more open northern seas, the locals rely heavily on fishing as a source of food. White Sea herring and White Sea cod, flounder and navaga, catfish and even salmon – these are the main trophies that a fisherman can get. If, of course, you know where to fish. Fish perform the function of transporting organic matter in marine ecosystems: after feeding in some areas, they go to others to spawn (for example, salmon spawn far beyond the sea, in rivers).
