Montano Brewing is a local craft beer brand with a focus on distributing beer that celebrates the vibrant life of the tropical montane cloud forest in Quindío, Colombia. Each beer in their lineup is a tribute not only to the diverse native species that inhabit this unique ecosystem but also to the vital role that humans play in preserving and connecting with nature. The essence of the brand is rooted in this symbiotic relationship, which is reflected in every aspect of their products.

To capture this ethos, we crafted an eccentric and colourful label that speaks to the heart of Montano Brewing ’s identity. The design is brought to life through a series of vivid collage-style illustrations that combine elements from nature—flora and fauna—with human figures. This artistic approach creates a harmonious yet eclectic universe that reflects the brewery’s philosophy of coexistence. The universe of Montano Brewing , lovingly referred to as “La Cerveza Viva,” is one where nature and humanity are intertwined. The four flagship beers in their collection—Mapanare (IPA), Frontino (Porter), Búho (Weissbier), and Tangara (APA)—are named after animals that are endemic to the region, further solidifying the brand’s deep connection to local wildlife.

The label design is intricate, featuring a cohesive yet visually dynamic combination of animal and human faces that are woven together in a striking juxtaposition. The composition also includes natural elements such as leaves, fruits, and clouds to emphasize the rich biodiversity of the region and underscore the brewery’s mission of fostering a deeper understanding of our connection with the natural world. To differentiate the various beers, each bottle is topped with a cap in soft pastel tones of green, yellow, pink, and purple that not only helps distinguish the different varieties but also complements the vibrant, picturesque scenes depicted on the labels.
