Over 70% of patients in care homes suffer from dementia or severe memory loss. While music and imagery are excellent tools in stimulation therapy, only 5% of care homes offer access to arts and music.
momento aims to provide accessible stimulation therapy by using our own portable projector and app. Whilst designed for care homes, momento is can be used by anyone; creating moments that bridge the gap between patients, families and carers during an often difficult period.
The projector offers both customisable audio and visual stimulation for patients suffering from dementia. Once the projector is ready, open the app and prepare to link. Click the middle button and wait for the projector to sync with the app. Once synchronised, you can begin adding media to create a montage best suited to the patient — their favourite music or imagery from key moments of their life.
The name momento comes from the word ‘memento’, an object kept to remind ourselves of something, and the idea that when using the projector you’re taking a moment with a loved one – hence momento. Our wordmark nods at ideas of human care – a rounded typeface with a raised ‘O’ plays with ideas of support and nurture while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. Soft tones are used to create a sense of nurturing while also providing a range to suit taste and preference. 3D modules are used from the wordmark as part of the brand that can elevate, accompany and support when needed but generally feel random to reflect the hectic side of dementia care.
