Werklig – Galipette Cidre
“ The heritage of French cider-making dates back to the 8th century, a time when sugars were natural and sweeteners a distant dream. Back then, it was all about the quality of the fermented apple juice. Galipette Cidre pays tribute to this longstanding French tradition with its contemporary, all-natural ciders. Galipette Cidre is an authentic, French cider made of 100% pure apple juice using apples cultivated specifically for cider.
Whereas authentic french ciders are traditionally associated with rural aesthetics and graphic apple references (orchards, fields, the fruit), Galipette Cidre made a very deliberate decision not to reference the apple at all. It’s a strategy that brings a pared back, modern, lifestyle-orientated brand to life. The visual identity is a meeting of heritage and modernity, impact and elegance.
The communications hierarchy focuses first on stand-out packaging, earning the consumer’s attention, and only afterwards, on communicating what is inside.
The bottle too breaks with convention. Using brown rather than clear glass, it’s a stubbier, rounder shape than the long-necked standard beer bottle, and at 0.33l, is smaller than the 0.75l size commonly used for cider in France.
The round shape of the labels and the distinctive bottles are derived from the name – Galipette (french for somersault or forward rolling movement).
Comments Antti Laukkanen, co-founder: “There’s clear space for a contemporary, unisex cider brand, with an authentic provenance, that’s in tune with the rhythm of now.”“
