Mijita Latin Food n’ Drinks is an intimate and colorful space in Havelock, New Zealand, that captures the essence of Latin America, where the fusion of restaurant and bar becomes an explosion of flavours. With a concise menu of small plates designed for sharing and a cocktail selection that includes Latin American classics such as the Margarita, Mojito, Pisco Sour and Cuba Libre.

Mijita, a little bit of Latin America!

At Mijita, we have created a space where the fusion between restaurant and bar becomes a fluid and casual experience. At the heart of its philosophy is the belief that food is for sharing and moments should be celebrated. With a focus on contemporary Latin cuisine, their dishes are designed to captivate your palate and enjoy with friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere that is complemented by a mix of vibrant music, a rich international experience and an eclectic mix that captures the very essence of Latin American nightlife.

For Mijita’s visual identity we reinterpreted pre-Columbian graphics, symbols and patterns, and gave them a contemporary look by mixing them with compositions of 3D objects with materials such as clay or mud, which raise some predominant ingredients in Latin American cuisine, while building altars that pay homage to the food that is shared at the table, and the hands that grow and prepare it.

In addition to borrowing resources from popular graphics such as the implementation of gradients and forceful and condensed typographies reminiscent of street posters promoting concerts, as well as the use of the Salsa BT font by Bastarda type, which makes a typographic revival of Fania All Star records that pays homage to the work of Izzy Sanabria. And thus imbuing this festive character in the brand.
