The animation presented is part of a mixed immersive experience project aimed at encouraging users to explore “Teotihuacan Culture,” highlighting the elements that made it one of the great civilisations of Mesoamerica. The experience sought to unravel the fundamental aspects of their daily life, rituals, and achievements that set them apart from other cultures of their time, allowing the viewer to connect with history in a unique and profound way.
The project was designed to offer an immersive and educational experience, with a particular focus on students. Through the exhibition, visitors were able to learn about the art, culture, and architecture of Teotihuacan in a unique way. The animation, projected onto a three-meter-high screen, immersed the viewer in a visual scene that told the “Teotihuacan Legend,” which relates to the emergence of the Sun and the Moon. The legend narrates how the gods created day and night through the sacrifice of “Nanahuatzin” and “Tecuciztécatl,” transforming them into the Sun. However, the gods decided to leave only one sun, and to diminish the brightness of the second, they sent a rabbit, which, upon striking the sun, transformed it into the Moon, also referencing the myth of the rabbit on the moon.- Student –
To enrich the narrative, the experience was complemented with a visual simulation of daily life in Teotihuacan. Through representations of its inhabitants, merchants, artisans, farmers, and priests, the animation immersed the user in the various aspects of daily life in this civilization, providing a comprehensive and educational view of its cultural richness. Additionally, it delved into the rituals, beliefs, and symbols that underpinned their worldview, expanding understanding of how these practices influenced their development and legacy. The proposal not only offered entertainment but also provided a deep and meaningful learning experience about Teotihuacan culture, fostering an emotional connection with the past.
