Maria Marks Design Concept for Betwist is a Ready-to-Drink Hard Seltzer

Introduction: Betwist is a ready-to-drink hard seltzer with a twist. Designed with open-minded, fun-loving festival-goers in mind. Market and audience: Festival-goers Outline the Brief and Tasks: Shillington gave us a brief to create pre-mixed cocktails for festival-goers.

Key strategic Decisions: The bottles are tins in the shape of a hip flask, an exciting new way of drinking read-to-go cocktails. This new hard seltzer is launched via an outdoor festival celebrating ready-to-drink cocktails. The launch invites all hard seltzers and RTD cocktail brands to come and showcase their new innovations to the festival goers around the country. With so many beer festivals having great success, I think it is about time an RTD festival.

Discuss the Design Process: I wanted to explore the feeling of being at a festival. I created a visual universe that reflects this feeling. The feeling of being transcended to an other-worldly universe. A universe of visual hallucinations in all shapes in forms. Where nothing needs to makes sense. A combination of imagination, exploration, hallucination, inspiration, excitation. By just looking at these hard seltzers, you transcend into another dimension. The name Betwist comes from the word betwixt meaning in-between two people or things. Meaning when you are at a festival you feel like a different, more exaggerated version of yourself. You don’t feel fully human. Maybe you even feel part human part wild animal. The logo itself is something of a betwixt with the middle case ‘i’. The name was the beginning of my creative inspiration. I created graphic patterns of bold colours, distorted shapes, and disorientating patterns.

Outline the Deliverables: 1. X3 flavoured RTD hard seltzers, fizzy watermelon, blood orange and zesty lime 2. Campaign roll-out – an RTD festival launch 3. Merchandise – bucket hats and fanny freezers – “Fanny freezers” are a new invention created for this project. Fanny freezers are fanny packs that have insulated freezer lining to keep the hip flasks ice cold when at a festival. The hip flasks fit perfectly into the fanny pack freezers. Who knew we could ever live without fanny freezers before now! 7. Highlight Results of Work. A full RTD hard seltzer campaign ready for lift off!
