Nestled in the petit village of Podensac just south of Bordeaux, Maison Lillet and its passionate team have been crafting their French Apéritif ever since 1872. This month, with new packaging designed by Nude Brand Creation, the Maison’s distinctive style has been reinvented through a perfect combination of heritage and modernity.
Maison Lillet has always been audacious and forward-thinking, ever since it created the first Apéritif made with white Bordeaux wines and (secret) fruits infusions. Quickly becoming the sip of choice in brasseries and bars, Lillet would soon capture the hearts of women, being acclaimed as “L’Apéritif des Dames”! Since then, fashions have come and gone, but Lillet has never gone out of style, as it continues to reinvent itself while still honouring its ever-growing legacy. The new bottle is no exception: its sleek design firmly places Lillet in the contemporary Apéritif world and as the tasty toast of every sunny terrace!
A unique new glass bottle pays homage to the Maison’s home and the architecture of Bordeaux. The arched doors have inspired the detail in the shoulder, and the delicate detail in the lower half echoes the treelined entrance to the Maison. These refined glass elements beautifully catch and reflect light, mirroring the Apéritif signature lightness and freshness.
The new label honours the past whilst embracing the future. The oval shape nods to the architecture, while the refined design highlights the brand logo and clear Apéritif messaging. An illustration of the Maison invites you into the bright world of Lillet, complemented by depictions of orange and oak trees, subtle tributes to the Apéritif’s unique recipe and ageing process. Tributes to the heritage and provenance are combined with an elegant colour palette including the striking Lillet red, together with cream and gold accents.
Yann Soenen, Marketing Director for Lillet commented:
“This new design perfectly embodies Lillet’s timeless elegance and distinctive style. Proudly paying tribute to the Maison’s 150 years, it also echoes the brand’s contemporary spirit, thanks to a unique silhouette that enhances Lillet’s bright color and hints at light & joyful apéritif moments. Nude have been fantastic partners for the brand.”
Tony Enoch, Creative Partner at Nude commented:
“Lillet is a brand with incredible history and provenance, and its packaging has changed very little over the years. With this bold new look, we aimed to honour its rich past, but also establish Lillet as the quintessential French Apéritif. It now fully captures the elegance of the Spritz moment, the magic of our visit to the Maison and the sunshine of the region.”
The new design extends across the full range including the citrusy Lillet Blanc, the fruity Lillet Rosé, and the sweet & spicy Lillet Rouge. Along with new glassware. Lillet is best enjoyed as a delicious and refreshing Spritz. Just mix one-part Lillet with two parts tonic, add a slice of citrus. It’s the easiest and yet chicest Spritz around. Light, fruity, and so stylish!
