Magura Premium Wines Label Design by the Labelmaker

Magura Premium Wines Label Design by the Labelmaker

Ancient Artistry Reimagined

Background

Nestled within the rich winemaking traditions of Bulgaria, the Magura winery elevates its premium line with a design inspired directly by the historic Magura Cave. These wines are not just a tribute to tradition but also a contemporary interpretation of ancient artistry. Unlike the vivid collection of illustrations used for Magura’s base wines, each label in this premium range centers on a single, carefully chosen prehistoric image from the cave, bringing it to life in a new form.
Design Thinking

For the Magura Premium line, we wanted to emphasize a distinct blend of elegance and heritage. Each of the eight wines in this collection boasts a unique label design featuring a single prehistoric symbol from Magura Cave, beautifully integrated into a sophisticated layout. The design revolves around a metallic blue and white palette, which brings a serene yet luxurious feel to the packaging. To further enhance the artisanal quality, each wine is given a name inspired by the selected illustration—every name hand-lettered to underline authenticity and reinforce the connection to Magura’s ancient legacy.
Challenges

The premium nature of this project required exceptional attention to detail and an elevated level of craftsmanship. Achieving the delicate balance between ancient art and modern refinement was challenging, especially in terms of paper and texture. The label is crafted from two types of paper, each with a slightly different texture and subtle color variation. This fusion creates a layered effect that adds depth and dimension to the design. We worked closely with Dagaprint, who boldly took on the challenge of bringing each intricate detail to life.
Favorite Details

Among the standout elements is the blue hot foil, which overprints the central prehistoric symbol and is then enhanced with a blue doming technique. This approach creates a stunning, tactile texture that catches the light beautifully, adding an interactive appeal to each bottle. The bottle itself—a premium Bordeaux-style—has a custom semi-metallic blue or copper capsule, underscoring its luxurious positioning. The logo, cut through the paper for a subtle see-through effect, offers a surprising layer of intrigue, while the Magura name is embossed, adding a refined tactile touch that reinforces the brand’s premium feel.

The Magura Premium wine label represents a unique fusion of heritage and contemporary design, crafted to resonate with discerning wine enthusiasts. Every detail, from the prehistoric illustrations to the artisan hand-lettering, contributes to a visually compelling and meaningful design. This collection underscores Magura’s dedication to quality and artistry, celebrating the timeless story that each bottle tells.
