Made by Mi Pottery Studio Branding

“Made by Mi” is a slow-made pottery studio founded by artist Mi Li, a Japanese pottery-maker based in London, UK.

Mi’s work is characterized by its great craftsmanship and soul, inspired by her Japanese heritage and culture. The Li family (father and grandfather) are traditional pottery makers. Mi’s work diverted from the traditional pottery-making but maintained the same technique and aesthetic of her family’s trade.

The name “Made by Mi” is chosen to be a play on Mi Li’s name, and the sounds of the word “Me”, which adds a personal touch to her work, as if to say “This is from Me”.

The logo is designed to reflect Mi Li’s personal touch and soul that she puts into her work. The logo is a minimal illustration of Mi Li’s face and features, drawn to look like a clay piece itself, with quirky yet precise lines. The logo features Mi Li’s famous haircut, which is her identifier.

The color palette chosen for the brand and its applications are earth-toned, ranging from sandy to greys and greens, to reflect the material that Mi Li uses in her work.

The application style is minimal and earthly colored, which reflects Mi Li’s aesthetic. The packaging is slick and minimal to reflect the aesthetics of Mi Li’s work, and the website is clean and simple, using clean photographs of Mi Li and her work.
