Erleia, a woman-founded and owned natural skincare brand, is redefining sustainability in beauty by proving that eco-friendly practices and beautiful design can go hand in hand. Erleia is confronting the overwhelming waste generated throughout the lifecycle of packaged products. 95% of recyclable product empties end up in landfills and oceans. Erleia collaborated with Little Sundays Studio to address this problem while modernizing and elevating its brand.
Through this redesign, Little Sundays and Erleia elevated the brand’s commitment to low-and zero-waste packaging solutions. Erleia transitioned its face oils from traditional glass bottles with HDPE orifice reducers and metal caps to lightweight, industrially compostable bio-based bottles. This shift not only minimized the product’s environmental impact but also set a new standard for sustainable skincare packaging.
All of Erleia’s paper tubes are plastic-free and the brand uses carbon neutral shipping for all orders. No detail is overlooked when it comes to Erleia’s product lifecycle and their impact on the environment — from the sustainability of their ingredients and packaging through their products’ journeys to customer homes.
Additionally, Erleia’s secondary packaging is now crafted from tree-free sugarcane paper, reducing reliance on traditional tree-based options, which rely heavily on deforestation while maintaining an elegant, modern aesthetic. Little Sundays structural design of the secondary packaging highlights the brand’s eco-conscious practices in its unboxing experience. After removing the compostable bottle from the box, consumers are reminded that they are taking care of themselves and the planet at the same time when using Erleia’s products.
Every design decision was carefully evaluated to align with Erleia’s vision: making sustainability approachable, thoughtful, and achievable for consumers. By integrating advanced sustainability practices into a consumer-friendly design, Erleia is leading the charge for a greener future in the beauty industry. This thoughtful redesign exemplifies how brands can prioritize the planet without compromising on quality or accessibility.
