Lightea Chiese Tea Packaging Design

Lightea Chiese Tea Packaging Design

Lightea is a new type of tea pack.
It was inspired by the Japanese Ohineri tha way of wrapping paper and the Chinese paper way of wrapping tea.
Ohineri is a kind of money wrapped in paper and dedicated to the god or Buddha. It can not see what is inside from the outside, but it can see what is inside when open Ohineri. This has a beautiful shape, like a flower opening.
Chinese tea is also often drunk from a pot of dried tea leaves wrapped in paper and rolled it up.
We thought that by combining the beauty of the shape and the beauty of the movement, we could visually express the spread of the aroma and taste of Chinese tea in the package.

The design is simple to open and close, thus creating a lean design without excessive tricks. A combination of hexagons and triangles was used to create a packaging design inspired by the Ohineri. The thick paper is folded to create a gap, through which the tea leaves are placed.
The idea is to open the packaging and use it as a cup.
It will be created packaging that had a meaning and role after unwrapping, rather than packaging that was consumed after unwrapping. That is why it can be transformed into a cup that is highly associated with tea.

Despite the fact that Chinese tea is a genre that has attracted worldwide attention in recent years, it has an old-fashioned image among young people in China.
But tea is not inherently old-fashioned, it is an color of our lifes. That is why the packaging is youthful and colourful.
It is used semi-transparent paper, which allows the colors to show through. The colour of the individual packets is visible through the outer box to show the soft fragrance and delicacy of the Chinese tea.
The name “Lightea” refers to the soft colors to show through of the tea packs and the bright future of Chinese tea.

This package is not only individually teapack, but also made into an assortment of traditional Chinese teas.
It can be used to enjoy a variety of teas individually, but also as a souvenir or for drinking in large groups on party occasions.
