The Hype Company is a brand name of a Spanish fertiliser manufacturer specialising in biotechnological treatments that use natural resources. The Hype Company was created for the purpose of researching a group of plants with enormous potential, the so-called AMPs (Aromatic and Medicinal Plants). Through in-depth analysis of their peculiarities, they offer innovative solutions that are tailor-made to meet growers’ needs.
To complement their portfolio, their R&D team developed a new product line focusing on the cultivation of flowers. They wanted a liquid fertiliser container that could be reused as a receptacle once empty, as the company is deeply concerned about the excessive use of throwaway packaging. In this way, the container can be given a second life and not end up in the sea.
It is aimed at a young, modern target group, who tend their own urban gardens and are new to agriculture. The brief specified that the container had to be stackable and set specific conditions on the diameter of the mouth and the sealing cap. It was also essential for it to be completely opaque, in order to prevent light from damaging the product. The result is this cube with rounded edges that is reminiscent of classic children’s building block toys and which also maximises logistics both for the manufacturer and users. The container is made of high-density polyethylene using the extrusion blow moulding process; while the lid, which includes a safety valve for gas control, is injection moulded in polypropylene. To reinforce the brand’s image and communicate the high quality of its products, some details were added that are unusual for this type of packaging, such as the logo being embossed in bas-relief on the most visible part of the container, or the website URL being etched on the lid using a high- gloss finish.
