Lavernia & Cienfuegos Create Blooming 2024 Packaging Design for Massimo Dutti Women’s Fragrances

Lavernia & Cienfuegos Create Blooming 2024 Packaging Design for Massimo Dutti Women’s Fragrances

With “Blooming,” the brand set out on a journey to craft a new family of perfumes that could stand out with its own unique identity, or “codes,” in the world of perfumery. This new line aimed not only to appeal to loyal followers of the brand but also to captivate new audiences, drawing them into a slightly more daring and sophisticated olfactory experience. The goal was to elevate the brand image significantly, especially at the point of sale, through a refined and distinct approach that distinguished itself from existing fragrance lines.

The “Blooming” collection focuses exclusively on women’s perfumes, with a strong emphasis on floral notes that convey a sense of natural beauty and timeless elegance. The name “Blooming” directly reflects this floral inspiration. Following the client’s brief, the team was tasked with creating a warm and inviting image that would instantly appeal to those seeking a sophisticated fragrance experience. Amber was selected as the central colour to convey warmth, richness, and a touch of luxury, complemented by an overall aesthetic that is both elegant and timeless.

In designing the packaging, the team embraced the semicircle or semi-sphere motif, symbolizing the bloom of a flower, as the central geometric icon throughout the design. This shape, simple yet symbolic, gives cohesion to the entire line, bringing to mind both nature and refined design. The bottle was carefully chosen with rounded shoulders, giving it a soft, inviting profile that complements the fragrance’s floral theme. A custom stopper was developed specifically for this bottle, creating a cohesive look that is at once distinctive and harmonious.

The unique feature of the container’s design lies in the inverted curves, where the rounded shoulders of the bottle contrast with the elegantly curved lines of the stopper. This design choice, inspired by natural forms, gives the bottle a unique silhouette that is both modern and classic. A subtle but impactful detail is the black tube within the bottle, which not only adds a unique visual touch but also matches the colour of the stopper, creating a striking contrast against the warm amber tones.

The outer packaging also received special attention. The box is encased in a sleeve that enhances the overall presentation. A die-cut in the lower part of the sleeve mirrors the semicircular motif of the bottle, reinforcing the design’s thematic consistency. This detail creates a memorable unboxing experience, as it introduces a tactile and visual element that aligns with the fragrance’s refined appeal. The “Blooming” line thus represents a new direction for the brand, combining elegance and a sense of daring innovation in the world of fine perfumery.
