Kurokawa is an accidental font made in honor of Kisho Kurokawa. The letters of the font were inspired by the architecture of a famous Japanese architect. Kisho Kurokawa is one of the founders of metabolism in architecture. This is a futuristic trend that sought to create an urban environment and buildings that function like living organisms. Kurokawa is best known as the creator of capsule buildings — special structures with modules bolted to the axial part. It was assumed that the cities of the future would consist of such buildings. The font outline borrowed these ideas and embodied the work of this master.
The font consists of the Latin alphabet and a basic set of glyphs. Each letter is based on a composite stem of three elements: a square top, a trapezoidal middle and a thin leg. Almost all letters have a clear expressive diagonal, which is formed from the stem. In general, the font is quite geometric and strict, all letters fit into a rectangle.
In addition to the font, a special specimen was performed, which demonstrated the diverse use of the font. It can be noticed that with a large size, the font acquires a strict mood and forms very interesting counterforms. With a small size, the letters become similar to hieroglyphs, they are intertwined into blocks of text, forming openwork canvases. In addition to the special, a poster was also made, combining numerous variants of the set.
The font is ideal for banners, for the design of large accidental inscriptions. In addition, it can also serve to create merch or posters in an Asian style. Such as a bag and a banner for a Japanese architectural exhibition.
