Flavour is one of the key factors in the increasing popularity of gin, which has experienced simply staggering growth over the past few years. Bombay Sapphire responded to this rising demand by adding ‘Flavour Expressions’ to its portfolio. Putting a twist of the familiar, this range of distilled gins inspired by classic gin cocktails offers delicious flavour with significantly more refinement and sophistication – not only in quality of the spirit, but also in design of its packaging.

Bombay Citron Pressé, the second release in this series, is a totally natural, irresistibly refreshing expression of the iconic brand’s signature London Dry Gin married with a 100% natural lemon infusion. Inspired by the classic Tom Collins cocktail, it perfectly balances the zesty citrus notes of fresh, green lemon with the vibrant juniper notes of Bombay gin, bringing refreshing effervescence to the moment of enjoyment.

Design for this new expression needed to reflect the bright intensity of the flavour profile whilst also striking out against the assumptions that all flavoured gins are overly sweet and artificially coloured. To do this, packaging needed to showcase Bombay Sapphire’s renowned expertise whilst also conveying the new proposition to inspire brand loyalists and flavour gin enthusiasts alike to ‘Stir Creativity.’

Putting a twist on the Bombay Sapphire’s existing architecture, the design for Bombay Citron Pressé showcases the bold flavour intensity of this new expression with lovely, intricate details that bring its product story to life.

Frosted glass emphasises the natural colour and flavour of the product, clearly differentiating it from the electric yellow colouring of other citrus-flavoured gins on the market. The label is framed with a garland of freshly cut Mediterranean lemons to illustrate that liquid is made with real fruit juice for a fuller, more intense taste. This motif appears again in a tactile varnish across the label which also features the brand’s iconic Queen Victoria cartouche in rose gold.

With craft, vibrancy and a touch of elegance, the design helps Bombay Citron Pressé stand out and apart from the rest whilst also elevating Bombay Sapphire’s ‘Flavour Expressions’ range with signature style.
