KIT Studio Creates Playful New Mascots to Launch Birkenstock’s Your Blank Canvas Customisation Platform

Creative studio KIT Studio has designed the visual identity for Birkenstock’s new in-store customisation platform, Your Blank Canvas. The platform launches in early 2026 following the success of the brand’s personalisation series in 2025. The campaign encourages customers to “Bring your sole to life”, positioning customisation as both creative play and personal storytelling.

At the heart of the identity is a trio of playful mascots based on Birkenstock’s Arizona, Boston and Utti styles, alongside a bespoke typeface and a system of city-inspired graphics. The new identity is designed to celebrate individuality while remaining unmistakably Birkenstock.

Your Blank Canvas invites customers to customise selected footwear with laces, charms and messages. The platform taps into the growing desire to add meaning and individuality to the things we wear, with KIT Studio’s identity encouraging self-expression through a visual system that feels inherently personal.

Birkenstock’s footwear is instantly recognisable, so the challenge was to introduce something new while staying rooted in the brand’s heritage. KIT Studio put the product at the heart of the identity, developing a character-led system that celebrates the shoes and the creative freedom the customisation platform offers.

The studio created three mascots based on the Arizona, Boston and Utti styles. Each character transforms the silhouette of the shoe into an animated figure, reflecting the joy and self-expression at the heart of Your Blank Canvas while staying true to the Birkenstock brand. The mascots naturally lend themselves to motion, offering endless possibilities for digital.

KIT Studio developed a custom bubble font designed to feel natural, expressive and playful, and to work seamlessly alongside the existing masterbrand assets.

The studio also created a series of city-inspired “passport stamps” for key locations. These graphics can be applied to customised products, allowing customers to reference hometowns, travel memories or favourite destinations.

Your Blank Canvas has launched at Birkenstock’s King’s Road flagship store in London, with plans for a global rollout.
