Igor Sá Fortes Creates Branding for Mixed Choir Group CVBS

A mixed choir is a group of adult voices, male and female, in traditional and erudite music it is composed of four voices: Basses, Tenors, Altos and Sopranos. While Canto Coral, or choral music, is music written specifically for choir singers voices. But, can a choir have a visual identity? That was the first question asked on a video call on a dark Sunday night. Yes, was the obvious answer, but we knew the responsibility this would take. However, the challenge was up to the will of Coral Virtual Brasil Sião (CVBS) in changing its brand. And a goal has never been so vibrant and necessary: ​​“To inspire, bring people together and support people through sacred music.”

Singing in choir has a synesthetic effect, because the very name “coral” is reminiscent of colors. It is as if each harmonic combination of the chords played by the voices could reflect a colorful sound effect. Synesthetic effects are like that, so the identity was developed that speaks for itself, with voices that sing its colors. Black and white blend together to bring out a gradient of history, symbolizing our blessings and most difficult times. But just like the cry that can last for a night, light and joy come in a radiant morning. Elements were sought to symbolize the various principles of Coral, such as being the light to the world, being universal, resilient and courageous; and the result is a more bold, engaging and democratic communication, as art itself should be.

So whether we are speaking Tim Maia’s Portuguese, Michael Jackson’s English or Ludvig Beethoven’s German, music crosses barriers, in the same way that art and graphic identity were able to carry out its purpose: to inspire, to bring and support people.
