LA MATILLA, A PREMIUM EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL ON A MODERN PACKAGING
Advertising agency Habermas has used the core values of the brand (tradition, craftsmanship and quality) to create a modern look.
La Matilla is an extra virgin olive oil from Seville (Spain) the olives are manually select and harvest at dawn, when they are still partially green, to obtain a premium extra virgin olive oil. Only 6 hours elapse from the harvesting of the olives until they are cold pressed. It’s hard work, but is a labor of love.
All elements used to create the oil are present on the packaging:
The green tone on the label is for the olive, the bottle cap is made of wood like the olive tree, the leather on the strap is the same one used on some of the gear to carry the olives from the farm to the mill and the gold finish on the brand name is because of the olive oil (liquid gold).
Finally, an illustration is the main element on the design. Is a Capacho, a traditional and almost extinct item used to make the oil. On a second passing, we can appreciate that it shows the letter O from Olive.
La Matilla’s font has been design exclusively for the brand. With his tall size and high contrast, the custom font gives elegance and neutrality, much needed to coexists along with the rest of design elements.
As well as the font, the bottle is also custom made for the brand. Made of ceramic, because is a traditional material used in Andalusia and because its opacity helps keepings the oil’s best qualities.
In a nutshell, our aim was to highlight the product’s strength using a visual language that express tradition, craftsmanship and quality, to make the right impact on the Gourmet Market.
