Located in Appledore, Kent, in the Garden of England, Gusbourne are renowned for making the finest vintage English sparkling wines. Embracing tradition while challenging convention, even to make what might seem like minor alterations, is the basis on which the winery’s reputation was established.
A combination of age-old tradition and modern technology allows Gusbourne to sit comfortably between old and new world winemaking.
Respect for the vineyards, the grapes, and the natural elements involved in winemaking means an approach favouring minimal intervention.
The label packaging designed by Wondersphere is a response to both the wine itself and the way that the wine is retailed and served. Gusbourne Natural Brut has a reductive label design, reflecting the ‘zero dosage’ approach to making this traditional method English Sparkling Wine. The wine is sold exclusively through on-trade channels, i.e. to fine dining restaurants, requiring none of the conventional consumer-focussed labelling information. The pared-back packaging is easily recognisable in low lighting, allowing sommeliers and servers to open and pour the wine more easily.
For Gusbournne, attention to detail is often the difference between great and exceptional.
Wondersphere have worked with Gusbourne since the estate was established with responsibility for all aspects of the brand, including strategy, messaging, art direction, packaging, digital, website design, print work and external communications.
